The Bobwhite Farm is located in one of the prettiest areas of Greenbrier County on a quite country lane. The old barn if from the late 1800's. The tin roof is still in good shape. The axe marks are visible in the logs that were hewn by hand over 100 years ago. The notches are a work of art. The old spring box provided water to the house. The spectacular view from the bluff overlooking the Greenbrier River towardss Droop Mountain and the Monongahela National Forest The weather vane and lightning rods on the roof are typical of this early 1900's era home. The home needs some attention but is liveable. This unique tombstone is one of several in the family cemetery located on the property. The view looking west downriver from the bluff. Many of the tombstones in the family cemetery date to the 1800's. The Bobwhite Farm is rich in history, some of which is recorded on the headstones. This 12 acre field would be suitable for producing hay, corn or maybe a nice berry or fruit orchard. Over 100 acres of the property is flat to rolling and is easily accessible. Wildlife is abundant on the farm. Deer and turkey can be seen on a regular basis. This view is from the 7 acre field across the county road and overlooks the old homestead. No one remembers the last time the timber was harvested on the farm. These mature sugar maple and red oak are just few of the old growth trees to be found thought out the forest. This dead "snag" is one of the most valuable trees in the forest. The migrating neo-tropical songbirds nest here and find insects to feed on. These mature oaks and hickories produce tons and tons of acorns and hickory nuts that the resident wildlife feed on. The trees also produce tons of Oxygen and soak up Carbon Dioxide. This very old Tulip Poplar is growing on the edge of the Rhododendron Thicket. The deer love to hang out here as it is near the edge of the field and they feel safe. These twin White Oaks grew up together from sprouts and have lived together for 70-80 years. The big bend in the river and the private camps along the river. These camps are only accessible by foot, horseback or bicycle. This is a pretty meadow that produces several loads of hay each year.
