The growing season at Hinton is relatively long and begins after the last spring frost on April 18, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac, and extends to the first fall frost at about October 21. HIGHER EDUCATION West Virginia University and New River Community & Technical College maintain campuses at Beckley, a 30 minute drive from the property.
