A unique property with character and possibilities.
History: This historic home was built by George Rapp in 1840 with slave labor making the bricks. Eventually, Judge Adam Snyder, who served as Supreme Court Justice form 1882-1890 lived in the house. Judge Snyder was wounded in the first battle of Manassas. This battle was a significant win for the south.
Woodwork mantels were handcrafted by Conrad Burgess, master woodcarver, who worked closely with John W. Dunn architect and mast builder, Dunn's works include many US National Register of Historic Places such as Morlunda, Greenbrier County Courthouse, Mountain Home, and John Wesley United Methodist Church just to name a few.
Carriage stones remain at the entrance to the home
In the early 1920, Marion Leslie Dunbar and Minnie Lee Crickenberger Dunbar lived in the house. In 1929 when the banks collapsed , the Dunbars lost the hose and moved to the Maryland area.
Later the house was used as a boarding house. The old boarding house addition was later torn down.
Other prominent families who care for the house included Detch and Burford.
