History of Bank of Renick.
Built in 1908 and operated as a bank until 1929, the bank building has remained an icon in the Renick community. For almost 70 years, the building was closed except for an occasional visit or river side stay.
*~ 1930. The Bank closed due to the Great Depression. The property was sold to the Geyer family and used as a residence. Mary Pearl Compton, WV Delegate for Monroe Co, was one of the Geyer sisters and lived in the building.
* ~ 1948, the Geyer family moved and the Rapp family purchased the property. The bottom windows were bricked and the building remained closed for almost 70 years, except for an occasional visit from the family or a river vacation stay.
* ~2020, The current owner purchased the building, began the clean out, removed the 1930s bedroom loft, and found that most of the original structure remained.
