Ronceverte, a French word meaning “Greenbrier,” was incorporated in 1882, and is known as the “friendly river city” that is situated on the gently flowing Greenbrier River. Ronceverte was home to the largest hardwood producing sawmill in the world from 1880 until 1921.

Today Ronceverte provides a unique bedroom community, accentuated by friendly people, a quaint historic district, affordable housing, and abundant business opportunities. With the largest municipal park in the county, and access for hiking and Ronceverte, WVbiking trails, and river access for canoeing, fishing and boating, Ronceverte offers many opportunities for visitors and welcomes new comers to the Greenbrier Valley.

Ronceverte is two miles from Lewisburg, WV and the State Fairgrounds in Fairlea.

Ronceverte is well known for the annual River Festival providing a fun-filled exciting weekend for the entire family. This four-day, four-night festival takes place in June at the Ronceverte Island Park, a 20-acre park located on the Greenbrier River. This rocking event features the famous “Great Rubber Ducky Race
